Grace Houska, age 100, of Mahnomen, MN, died on Friday, May 31, 2019, at Mahnomen Health Center Nursing Home, Mahnomen, MN.

Grace Lindeman was born September 30, 1918, the daughter of Robert and Della (Vadnais) Lindeman.  She was baptized and confirmed at St. Ann's Catholic Church and attended school in Waubun, MN.  In 1938, Grace was united in marriage to Wesley Wenarski and he passed away in 1963.  She would then marry Leo "Bob" Houska in 1967 and spend the next 21 years with him until his death in 1988.  Later in life, Grace kept companionship with William Ames for 16 years until his death in 2006.

Grace lived in Minneapolis, MN, during the war and worked at the Ammunition Depot at New Brighton, MN, followed by a move to Hastings, NE, where she worked at the Naval Ammunition Depot.  Upon returning to Waubun, Grace worked at the Pat Chromy Café and for Val Flicek at the café before purchasing the café and operating Grace's Café for 50 years.  After selling the café, Grace move to Snyder Lake, rural Waubun.  Some of her favorite pastimes included fishing and gardening and she loved flowers.  The past several years she has made her home at the nursing home.

Grace is survived by many nieces, nephews and godchildren.  She loved them all but was very proud of her nephew, "Little Earl" Buschette.  In addition to Wes, Bob and William, she was preceded in death by her parents; one brother and six sisters.
