Gloria D. Ramstad, 93, of Gary, MN, passed away on Wednesday, October 7, 2020 at Benedictine Care Community in Ada, MN.

Gloria, the daughter of Albert and Dora (Berg) Sunderland, was born on January 8, 1927. Gloria grew up in Crookston, MN, where she graduated from Crookston Public School.

On December 28, 1950, she was united in marriage to Robert George Ramstad in Crookston, MN. Bob and Gloria made their home in Gary, MN. Their union was blessed with 6 children; Darlene, Ann Marie, Karen, Laurie, Robert, and James. Gloria was an active member of Gary Lutheran Church, where she sang in the choir, and was a member of the auxiliary. She taught Sunday School and Parochial School while her children were involved in the programs. She was also a part of a women's bowling league. Gloria was employed by Gary Elementary School for a number of years. While at their lake cabin on Big Elbow Lake, MN, Gloria volunteered and was a part of the Elbow Lake /Tulaby Fire Department's Ladies' Auxiliary.

Gloria's passion was providing for her children, with unconditional love, wonderful listening ears and the patience of a saint! Their home was also lovingly filled with many pets; cats, dogs, and any strays that showed up!

Everyone was always "welcome" at Gloria and Bob's home. Coffee, supper, and homemade treats were always available for all who stopped by! There was never a shortage of food! We all loved her homemade brownies, banana bread, cookies, and pies! The friends of her children knew they had an "extra mom" who loved and cared for them dearly! Her grandchildren's friends were also considered part of the family! Her hearts capacity to love and welcome others knew no bounds! She loved as Jesus commands us to! Gloria was a firm believer that it takes a village to raise a child.

Gloria filled her free time with long daily walks, reading, coffee time with friends and family, and "her shows!" Her grandchildren all had the privilege of staying at Grandma and Grandpa's house! Laughter, time spent outside on fun adventures, delicious foods, and lots of love was always there! She enjoyed her time spent at their lake cabin on Roy Lake and later, Big Elbow Lake.

Gloria is lovingly remembered by her husband of nearly 70 years, Robert (Bob) Ramstad; daughters, Darlene (Doug) Sandstrom, Longville, MN, Ann Marie (Bruce) Kindseth, Big Elbow Lake, MN, and Laurie (Jon) Stein, Sauk Centre, MN; sons, Bob (Cindy) Ramstad, Ada, MN and Jim (Shelly Brunner) Ramstad, Mahnomen, MN; 11 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.

Gloria was preceded in death by her daughter, Karen Leigh; parents, Albert and Dora Sunderland; brother, Robert L. Sunderland; mother and father-in-law, Emma and George Ramstad; loving friends, Ann and Rueben Airhart; as well as her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to the Benedictine Care Community of Ada or Hospice of the Red River Valley.

Funeral: A private family funeral will be held Wednesday, October 14, 2020 at Fredrikson-Ganje Funeral Home, Ada, MN.

Visitation: A walk through public visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 pm on Tuesday, October 13, 2020 at Fredrikson-Ganje Funeral Home, Ada, MN.

Burial: Gary Lutheran Cemetery, Gary, MN.

All are welcome to attend the visitation, following all of the Minnesota and CDC COVID-19 social distancing guidelines. All must wear a mask to attend.
