Gloria Joop, age 57, of Borup, MN, passed on to be with her Lord on Friday, November 3, 2006, at the Twin Valley Living Center, Twin Valley, MN.

Gloria Holmen was born December 9, 1948, in Fargo, ND, the daughter of Garfield and Florence (Rekken) Holmen. She was raised in Horace, ND, where she attended school. She graduated from West Fargo High School with the class of 1966 and attended Moorhead State Teachers College (MSU) in Moorhead, MN. For the next two years, Gloria worked for the Northwest Telephone Company. She was united in marriage to Donald Joop on November 9, 1973, at the Horace Lutheran Church. They made their home on the farm near Borup. While living in the Borup area, Gloria was secretary for the Zion Lutheran Church in Ada, MN, for 25 years. She also worked for Fredrickson Funeral Home, in Ada, and later for Tri-Valley Opportunity Service, also in Ada. Due to ill heath, Gloria recently entered the Twin Valley Living Center.

Gloria enjoyed her life as wife and mother. It was great with fulfillment and joy when their two children from Korea became a part of their family. She loved to decorate her house, sew, and crochet. Gloria was very much into arts and crafts and attended many shows selling her goods. She also made macramé items, which were popular for a time. Gloria, along with her husband, liked both flower and vegetable gardening, and canned much of their produce. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, in Ada, and loved her activities there.

Gloria is survived by her husband Donald of Borup; her son, Jason of Ann Arbor, MI; her daughter, Jenny Raft of Chelse, MI; her mother, Florence Holmen of Horace, ND; one brother, Dennis (Cathy) Holmen of Horace; one brother-in-law, Charles (Muriel) Joop of Borup; one niece, Sarah (Jesse) Ouse of Horace; two nephews, Evan Holmen of Horace, and Greg Joop of Borup; along with several aunts, uncles, cousins, and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, and one niece.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00AM on Tuesday, November 7, 2006, at Zion Lutheran Church in Ada, with Pastor Dennis O'Neill officiating. Twilla Hilde and Connie Holmen will serve as soloist, with Kris Wilkins as organist. Serving as pallbearers will be Evan Holmen, Paul Grindleland, Jesse Ouse, Larry Lelm, Andy Guttormson, and Ronald Guttormson. All of her friends and relatives will serve as honorary bearers. Visitation will take place from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM, with a Prayer Service at 7:00 PM, all at Zion Lutheran Church in Ada. Interment will take place at the Ada City Cemetery in Ada.
