Watch Glenn's Mass of Christian Burial

Glenn Hanson, age 70, of Mahnomen, MN, died unexpectedly on Friday, February 9, 2024, at his home.

Glenn Russell was born April 9, 1953, in Crookston, MN, the son of Russell and Edith (Grunhovd) Hanson.  He grew up in the Rindal, MN, area and graduated from Fertile-Beltrami High School with the Class of 1971.  Following high school, he furthered his education at "sophisticated" Moorhead Tech.  Upon completing his degree in Diesel Mechanics, Glenn moved and worked in Colorado for a short time before moving back to the area.  He began working at Hanson Motors in Mahnomen as a mechanic and then went to work for Frasier Farms.  In the mid 1980's, Glenn became employed by Clayton Drake/Greenhills Farms.  He met Karen Voit and the couple was united in marriage on February 6, 1988.  He continued working for Clayton and they made their home southwest of Mahnomen, where they raised their son, Nathan, and daughter, Breanna, and are currently raising their grandchildren, Dakotah and Deja.  The last years of Glenn's working career were spent with Skaurud Grain Farms.  As his health began to decline, he was forced to slow up and climbed down out of the tractor one last time in the fall of 2020.

Glenn was a dedicated, hardworking individual who believed if you were going to do a job you should always do a good job.  He was very particular with how he mowed his lawn and stacked his wood pile, taking great pride and ownership in both.  Glenn enjoyed going for morning coffee with the guys and socializing with anyone who would engage in conversation.  He also enjoyed evening drives after work just to see the countryside and check out the crops.  Glenn could always lighten the mood and provide some laughter.  His sense of humor was such that you weren't always sure if he was serious or just teasing, which he liked to do.  In more recent years, he spent time working word finds, reading the newspaper and talking to family and friends alike on the phone.  Glenn was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus.

Glenn is survived by his wife, Karen of Mahnomen; children, Nathan of Brookings, SD, and Breanna of Fargo, ND; grandchildren, Dakotah and Dejanelle of Mahnomen; brother, Brad of Winger, MN; sisters, Bev Rohweller of Detroit Lakes, MN, and Luanne (Ritch) Mjelde of Willmar, MN; brother-in-law, Jim Strehlow of Hamel, MN; mother-in-law, Bernice Voit of Mahnomen; brother-in-law, Duane (Geri) Voit of Dilworth, MN; sisters-in-law, Deb Hand of Moorhead, MN, and Diane (Dean) Omberg of Hawley, MN; and several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Barb Strehlow; two brothers-in-law, Ron Rohweller and Rick Hand; and father-in-law, Ervin "Sonny" Voit.

Blessed be the memory of Glenn Hanson.
