Obituary

Glenice Virginia Jensen, 89, rural Borup, Minnesota, died Friday, April 4, 2014, in her home. She was born on October 27, 1924, to Everett and Ruth (Ridenour) Turnbull in Mountain Lake, MN. Glenice graduated from Jeffers High School, Jeffers, MN. She went on to college, graduating with a teaching Certificate from Mankato State Teachers College, Mankato, MN, in 1943.

On November 27, 1943, Glenice was united in marriage to Henry Jensen at Jeffers. After Henry was discharged from the Navy, they moved to rural Borup, MN, where they farmed and raised their children. In 1966, Glenice began teaching at Borup Public School, where she used her natural abilities to educate and influence young people. Glenice retired in 1989, after teaching for 23 years. They continued to live on the farm and enjoyed their family and friends. Henry died on January 22, 1995. Glenice was a former member of Jevnaker Lutheran Church, rural Borup, and a current member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, Felton, MN. She was active in the ladies groups at the church and the VFW Auxiliary.

Being creative, happy and uplifting made Glenice a joy to be around. Her enthusiasm for life and learning was an inspiration for her children and students. If Glenice wanted something done, her determination and ingenuity usually allowed the project to be completed. She was an excellent seamstress, sewing clothing for many of the families' special occasions. She was also a tremendous baker and cook, making pies, cookies and all kinds of bread products. Gathering educational gifts for grandchildren and always being available for her family demonstrated her deep love and devotion to their lives.

Glenice is survived by her children: Virgil, Borup, MN; Greg (Carol), Lisbon, ND, Renee Brantner (Jerry Olson), Waubun, MN, Rita (James) Rowland, Park Rapids, MN, Timothy, Blaine, MN, and Kim (Dale) Hoff, Crookston, MN; 9 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; one sister, Marlys Puchta, Ankeny, IA; nephews, nieces, and cousins. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son-in-law, Mark Brantner, and one brother-in-law, Gil Puchta.

Funeral: Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, Felton, MN, Saturday, April 12, 2014, at 10:30 AM.

Visitation: Fredrikson Funeral Home, Ada, MN, Friday, April 11, 2014, from 5-7 PM with a prayer services at 7 PM.

Burial: Jevnaker Cemetery, rural Borup, MN, in the spring.
