Glendora Scott, age 81, of McIntosh, MN, formerly of Naytahwaush, MN, died Monday, June 15, 2009 in McIntosh Manor Nursing Home.
Glendora Ann was born July 28, 1927 in White Earth, MN, to Stephen and Nellie (Sullivan) Bellanger, Sr. As a child, she attended school both in Naytahwaush and the White Earth Mission School. After graduating from Naytahwaush High School she worked in the school kitchen. Glendora was united in marriage to John Kast.
Glendora later married Elmer Scott in Fosston, MN, in 1957. They lived in Hibbing, MN, for a short time, where Elmer worked in the mines, before moving to Bejou, MN. Elmer and Glendora then settled in Naytahwaush and Elmer died in 1969. After Elmer's death, Glendora continued to make her home in Naytahwaush and raised their family. Over the years, she also worked at Pinehurst Resort and as a seamstress at the sewing factory in Naytahwaush. When the sewing factory closed, Glendora began working at the Shooting Star Casino, retiring in the early 1990's.
Glendora was a member of St. Anne's Catholic Church in Naytahwaush. During her retirement years, Glendora enjoyed spending time with family and friends, especially her grandchildren, and making them big Sunday dinners. She also liked playing cards, walking, having picnics, jigsaw puzzles and the companionship of her dog, Dolly.
Glendora is survived by four daughters: Lorna Nelson of Erskine, MN, Jean (Joe Olson) Clark, Sandy (Rick Turpin) Scott and Betty Scott all of Naytahwaush; one son, Randy Scott of Naytahwaush; nine grandchildren: Dave (Star Welch) Palm, Jody (Pat) Killian, Jennifer (Chad Guinn) Scott, Josh Scott, Patrick Scott Sr., Leslie (Robert Buckle) Scott, Ashley (Patrick Kier) Scott, Brandon McArthur, and Tiffany Clark; 24 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Lucille Turner also of Naytahwaush.
She is preceded in death by her parents; two daughters, an infant and Yvonne Kast; three brothers: Ervan Bellanger, Edward Bellanger and Stephen Bellanger Jr.; three sisters: Joyce St. Clair, Alice Turner and Theresa Bellanger; one granddaughter, baby girl Palm and 2 great-grandchildren.
Mass of Christian Burial was held Thursday, June 18, 2009 at 11 am at St. Anne's Catholic Church, Naytahwaush, led by Rev. Doyle Turner. Visitation was held Wednesday, June 17th from 5-7 pm with a prayer service at 6:30 pm at the Anderson~Mattson Funeral Home, Mahnomen, led by Father Bob Leising, O.M.I. Pallbearers were Patrick Scott, Sr., Patrick Kier, Chad Guinn, Sr., Dave Palm, Brandon McArthur, Sr., Josh Scott, and Chad Guinn, Jr. Honorary Pallbearers were all of Glendora's grandchildren and great-grandchildren and the staff of the McIntosh Manor Nursing Home. Burial was in the St. Anne's Catholic Cemetery, Naytahwaush.
