Gladys Marion Gunderson was born May 18, 1909, the daughter of Lars and Anna (Olson) Gunderson near Gary, MN. She attended school in Gary and at the age of 106 1/2, was the oldest living student. She graduated from the Northwest School of Agriculture, Crookston, MN, and furthered her education at the University of Minnesota earning her RN degree in 1932. Following graduating, Gladys moved to Sacramento, CA, where she was employed by Sutters Hospital as head nurse for four years. In 1936, Gladys was united in marriage to George Pointon. The couple made their home in El Paso, TX, where George was a government bus driver at White Sands, NM, and Gladys worked for Dr. Goodlo as a general practice nurse for 25 years. She was a member of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in El Paso and served as secretary for a number of years. George passed away in 1973. Gladys continued to live in El Paso until moving to Twin Valley on May 1, 2005, making the Valley Pines Apartments her home. In May of 2014, Gladys suffered a stroke and became a resident of the Twin Valley Living Center.

Although hard of hearing, Gladys enjoyed the friends she made at the Valley Pines and the Twin Valley Living Center. Some of Gladys' favorite pastimes included playing dominos, bingo, crocheting, tending flowers, and reading, especially the Saturday Evening Post and Readers Digest.
