Gertrude Antell, age 96, of Mahnomen, MN, passed away on Friday, January 21, 2022 at her home under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley.

Gertrude Margerete Keim was born on May 13, 1925 on the farm near Clover Township, MN to John and Bernadine (Luechen) Keim. Gertrude attended school in Fosston, MN, and furthered her education at beautician school. Gertrude met her future husband, Charles Antell, at the Wishing Well in Bejou and the couple were married on January 22, 1946. She later began working as a mail sorter at the St. Paul Post Office. After Charles' passing in 1978, the family moved to Iowa where Gertrude worked as a homemaker and also spent her time as a caregiver for the elderly by taking them to appointments, cleaning their homes, and doing errands for them, She retired in the early 90s and the family moved back to Mahnomen where she enjoyed caring for her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Never to let her hands be idle, Gertrude spent her free time doing various crafts including embroidery, plastic canvas creations, beading, and sewing Afghans which will be cherished by her family. She was also known for her family-favorite beans and potato salad. She will be greatly missed by her loved ones,

Gertrude is survived by her daughters, Charolette Antell-Beeken, Jennifer Lofston, Sharon (Gary) Beeken, Cindy Antell, Patricia (Donald) Beeken, and April Antell; many beloved grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren along with numerous extended family.

Gertrude is greeted in heaven by her husband Charles; daughters, Elizabeth Johnson and Annette Cronan; son, Charles Antell Jr.; and great grandsons, Andrew Michael Ballin and Andrew Michael Ziesmer.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, May 13, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery in Beaulieu, MN.
