Gerri Olson, 77, of Halstad, MN, died Wednesday, June 20, 2018, under the care of hospice at the Halstad Living Center, Halstad, MN.

Geraldine Mae was born May 9, 1941, to Earl and Eva (Hjelle) Hangsleben in Marshall County, rural Argyle, MN. Gerri was the oldest of 8 children. She graduated from Argyle High School and continued her education at Bethesda School of Nursing, Crookston, MN.

On September 23, 1961, Gerri was united in marriage to Warren Olson in Argyle, MN. The couple lived in various places during the time when Warren was serving in the military. When stationed in Virginia, she taught Sunday school and was active in Girl Scouts. They returned to Halstad in 1982. Gerri worked at the Halstad Living Center as a Licensed Practical Nurse for fifteen years. She retired in 1999. Her health declined following a stroke and she became a resident of the Halstad Living Center in April of 2018.

Gerri was a member of Augustana Lutheran Church and a Halstad American Legion Auxiliary member. She enjoyed gardening and canning.

Gerri is survived by her husband, Warren, Halstad, MN; son, Michael (Nanci) Olson, Grand Forks, ND; daughter, Karen (Ron) Ellenson, Gardner, ND; four grandchildren: Todd, Derek, and Erin Olson, and Bailey Ellenson, two great grandchildren, four brothers, three sisters, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral: 2:00PM, Monday, June 25, 2018, at Augustana Lutheran Church, rural Halstad, MN.

Visitation : One hour before the service at the church.

Burial: Augustana Lutheran Cemetery, rural Halstad, MN.
