Geraldine
Bueng
Sep 9, 1953 — Jun 16, 2022
Valley City
Geraldine Margaret (Grove) Bueng passed away at home Thursday, June 16, 2022, surrounded by her husband Bruce, daughters Nicki and Melissa, and her niece Michelle Mickelson.
Geraldine (Gerri) was born in Mahnomen, MN on September 9 th , 1953. The daughter of Gerald and Hilda (Prestegord) Grove, Gerri was the youngest of four daughters. She lived in Twin Valley, MN until the age of 5, when the family moved to the Iron Range. Gerri attended Silver Bay schools (when she felt like going to school) until she was 16, when she moved back to Twin Valley and graduated from Twin Valley High School.
Gerri met the love of her life, Bruce Bueng, the summer of 1970. They were engaged that summer and Gerri moved back to Twin Valley to finish high school. They were married on April 17 th , 1971. They lived in Twin Valley until 1996, when they moved to Valley City, ND. The love they shared over the next 51 years is often described by their daughters as the definition of soulmates.
Gerri and Bruce welcomed a daughter, Nichole (Nicki), in 1972 followed by the birth of their second daughter, Melissa, in 1974. Family was everything for Gerri. Her loving arms when hugs were needed, her supportive words and her fierce protectiveness of the family were well known to all. God help anyone who tried to hurt Bruce, her daughters, or her grandchildren.
Gerri was a successful business woman over the years. Her leadership and business knowledge helped each company she worked for thrive with success.
Gerri loved spending time with her sisters. Shenanigans and laughs were always had when the "Grove girls" were together. They were known to pull pranks, spend time on Gerri's pontoon (which Bruce would have to come dock after the four of them had a fun day on the lake), and sing country music. You never knew what would happen when they were together but you knew it would be fun!
More shenanigans ensued over the years when Gerri and Bruce would spend time with their best friends, Danny and Kathy Bredman. Vacations in Florida, car shows, casino trips and many stories they would not tell us kids, made for a very special relationship between them over the years.
Gerri is survived by her husband, Bruce; daughters, Nicki (Scott) Brockopp and Melissa (John) Nellermoe; seven grandchildren, Seth (Brooklyn) Brockopp, Derik Brockopp, Cole Brockopp, Noah Kraft, Raegan Kraft, Brianna (Paul) Nellermoe, Zack Nellermoe; great-grandchild, Liam Nellermoe; sisters-in-law, Dolly (Terry) Meyer, Barbara Bueng, Marlys Voss, Julia Bueng; brothers-in-law, Ray Meyers, Sheldon Johnson, Loren (Roslind) Lene, Harlen (Sylvia) Bueng, Dennis (Fran) Bueng; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Eleanor, Susie and Linda; mother and father-in-law, Anna and George Bueng; and brothers-in-law, Jerry Lene, Garfield (Lily) Bueng, Arnold "Bud" Bueng and Curtis Bueng.
