Georgia Ann Roy was born April 25, 1926 to David and Christina (Rice) Roy at her grandfather's home in Naytahwaush, MN – the third of 13 children. She grew up attending school in a one room country school house at Pine Bend. After the 8th grade, Georgia went to Mahnomen High School and graduated with the class of 1945.
In 1950, Georgia was united in marriage to Leonard Wiemer in Minneapolis, MN. They moved back to the Lengby area to raise their children, living only a mile from the home of Georgia's parents. As their children grew older, Georgia looked to further her education. She took classes through Northwest Medical Technical School, receiving a degree in ASCP lab. Education was very important to Georgia and as the years went on she continued to take classes, earning over 80 college credits.
From 1971 until 1989, Georgia worked as a lab tech at the Bagley Memorial Hospital. She then began working in the Bagley School system until September of 2003, when her declining health caused her to retire. Georgia moved to the Twin Valley Living Center in February of 2006. She continued to make her home at the living center, where she died Tuesday, June 17, 2008, having lived to the age of 82 years.
Over the years, Georgia kept busy with a variety of activities. She had a creative and adventurous sense about her and loved being outdoors. Georgia enjoyed traveling whenever possible, knitting, crocheting, and berry picking. However, the pastimes she loved most included deer hunting, playing Bingo and garage sales. Georgia was an active member of the Lengby VFW Auxiliary, Homemakers Group, past 4-H leader and served on the White Earth Election Board.
