George Thorsen, age 68, of Twin Valley, MN, died on Saturday, May 26, 2018 at Essentia Hospital in Ada, MN.

George Allen Thorsen was born on August 10, 1949 to Enoch and Hilda (Aga) Thorsen in Chicago, IL. As a young child, his family moved from Chicago to Twin Valley where he would grow up and attend school. He graduated from Twin Valley High School with the Class of 1967. George was employed at Viking Snowmobile for two years before enlisting with the US Army where he trained to be a sharpshooter. After his honorable discharge, he returned to Twin Valley where he was employed with Great Plains Lumber Yard for many years. George eventually ventured out on his own as a contractor owning and operating Thorsen Construction. He kept busy throughout the year by also doing snow removal in the winters.

On a backroad drive or cruise in his convertible is where you would likely find George in his free time. He was never short on words and spent countless hours visiting with friends and locals. Whether he was working on a project or helping a friend, he was never still for long as he enjoyed being busy. His rough hands were quite contrary to how caring he was on the inside. George treasured spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

George is survived by his daughter, Jill Thorsen (Mitch Forderer) of Moorhead, MN; his son, Dean Thorsen of Twin Valley, MN; his grandchildren: Jordan, Carter, Emma Jo, Kody, and Kimberley; his sister, Carol (Tom) Adensam of Red Lake, MN; his nephews, Tony (Jane) Adensam and T.J. Adensam; his niece, Christy (Greg) Johanneck; and many friends. He is preceded in death by his parents and his wife.

A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, June 8, 2018 at 2:00 PM at the Anderson Family Funeral Home in Twin Valley. Inurnment will take place at the Twin Valley Memorial Gardens following the Memorial Service.
