Genora Lee, 98, of Twin Valley, MN died Thursday, August 29, 2013 in the Twin Valley Living Center, Twin Valley.
Genora H. Hanson·Horn was born September 26, 1914 the daughter of Hans and Karen (Tangen) Hanson·Horn southeast of Fertile Minnesota on the family farm where she was raised. Genora was baptized and confirmed her faith at Sundal Lutheran Church. As a young lady, Genora was employed as a housekeeper for several farm families in that community. On February 3rd, 1937 Genora was united in marriage to Norman Lee in Bear Park Township. The couple made their home in Waukon Township where they farmed all of their married years. Genora was very active in the farming operation and worked side by side with her husband until they retired. After Norman's death on April 11, 1978, Genora continued to live on the farm for the next two years before moving into Twin Valley. After more than 20 years Genora purchased a mobile home where she resided next to her daughter and son-in-law near Gary. In 2011 she moved into the Twin Valley Living Center where she has resided since.
Genora's favorite pastimes included tending her flower and vegetable gardens, baking and quilting; which all of her grandchildren proudly own several of.
Genora is survived by her daughter, Karen (Myron) Stene of Gary, MN; four grandchildren: Glenn (Jody) Stene, Heath (Crystal) Stene, Kelly (Tracy) Stene and Stacy (Kathy) Stene; 15 great-grandchildren, one great-great grandson and a sister, Sylvia (Joe) Johnson of Hibbing, MN.
She is preceded in death by her husband, six brothers and three sisters.
Funeral Services were held on Tuesday, September 3, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at Sundal Lutheran Church, rural Fertile, MN. Visitation was Monday, September 2nd from 5-7 p.m. with a Prayer Service at 6:30 p.m. in the Anderson Funeral Home, Twin Valley. Visitation was also be one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday. Officiating was Pastor Kelly Ahola with Jenny Hanson serving as organist and Lucille Fuglseth serving as vocalist. Pallbearers were Harlan Jacobson, Milan Horn, Derald Horn, Harvey Horn, Dennis Hanson and Sherman Sirjord. Honorary Pallbearers were all of her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and a great-great grandson.
Interment was in the Norman Lutheran Cemetery, rural Gary.
