Gary "Louie". Bevins Sr., age 68, of White Earth, MN, died on Friday, December 16, 2022, at Essentia Health in Fargo, ND.

Gary L Bevins was born to George and Lois (Smith) Bevins in Michigan on September 2, 1954.  As a young child, his family moved to the White Earth area.  Gary attended school at the White Earth Mission School followed by high school in Waubun, MN.  After high school, Louie and his good friend, Ed Levy, ventured off to Michigan for a short time.  Upon returning to the White Earth Reservation, Gary was blessed with a son, Gary Jr.  Louie then furthered his education at the Detroit Lakes Vo-Tech to be a carpenter and electrician.  He worked as a carpenter until his retirement.

Gary was a loving, caring and generous individual.  Over the years, he opened his home to many family, serving as a father figure to numerous nieces and nephews and was currently raising his three great-grandchildren.  He had a few special nieces and nephews that were always around and willing to help with babysitting or pitching in to clean up the house.  Louie enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing in addition to the occasional trip to try his luck at the casino.

Gary is survived by his son, Gary Bevins Jr. of White Earth; a granddaughter, Kayla Bevins; three great-grandchildren: Raila, Nikolai and Trayton; a sister, Jeanine Bellanger of White Earth; a brother, James Bevins of Callaway, MN; and several nieces and nephews.  He is preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Avis Pederson; a nephew, Matthew Bevins; two nieces; brother-in-law, Francis Bellanger; sister-in-law, Margaret Bevins; and two great-nephews, Ethan Berry and Jamie Bevins Jr.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, December 22, 2022 at St. Benedict's Catholic Church, White Earth, MN.  Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.
