Fred Evan Jamison died February 26, 2012, in Fargo, ND, at Sanford Medical Center from a heart attack. He was 61 years old.

Fred was born June 17, 1950, in Ada, MN, to Thomas G. and Donna (Fynskov) Jamison. The family lived and farmed just west of Ada, a site where Fred continued to farm until he retired in recent years, and all three Jamison children enjoyed playing in the outdoor setting the farm provided.

The family changed in Fred's elementary years. His father married Lucille (Smith) Meserall from Twin Valley and in doing so Fred gained a stepsister, Terrie, and a stepbrother, Tommy, and eventually moved into a house in Ada.

Fred graduated from Ada High School in 1968 and began attending NDSU that fall where he was a pharmacy major. A few years into the program Fred realized he wanted to work outdoors but the draft was upon him and stalled his decision to make changes.

Eventually he quit school and entered the Air Force National Guard. He joked regularly that the war ended on his first day of boot camp.

In 1971 he married Gwendolyn Myers of Ada. They built the house across from the family farm and raised three children. The family enjoyed cross-country road trips, lake hopping, watching movies, and an occasional ski trip.

During these years Fred was honored with the Ada Jaycees Outstanding Young Farmers of America award for Norman County and also devoted a great deal of time to the McDonaldsville Township Association as treasurer, the Norman County Township Officers as chairman, and as Faith United Church's Chairman of the Trustees Committee.

Fred was a good skier and in the past year proved to still be the best water and downhill skier in the family. He also enjoyed spending time with his family, fixing something, fishing, going for leisurely walks, fixing something, retelling funny stories from the past, fixing something ?, and going on cruises and taking trips out west. Overall he was a creature of habit and routine although he recently acquired a taste for new travel destinations like Alaska and the Caribbean. In fact the family now jokes that with Fred's passing he simply got bored in retirement and decided to find another adventure.

Fred was preceded in death by his father Thomas G. Jamison, his stepfather Pietro Buttitta, a stepsister Terrie (Meseraull) Kroshus, and a stepbrother, Tommy Meseraull.
Fred is survived by Gwen Jamison, Dilworth, MN, his three children, John Jamison and his son Noah Balvik and Noah's mother Janelle Balvik, Fargo, ND ; Laura Jamison, Dilworth, MN; and Allison (Ken) Brown and their daughter Samantha, Monticello, MN. He is also survived by his mother Donna Buttitta, California; stepmother Lucille Jamison, Lakeville, MN; older brother Thomas J. Jamison and his wife Jean, Virginia; and younger sister Holly Conormon and her husband George "Bear", California.

Funeral Services: Saturday, March 3, 2012, at 11:00am, in Faith United Church, Ada, MN.

Visitation: Friday, March 2nd from 5:00-7:00pm with a Prayer Service at 6:30pm at the Church.

Burial: Ada City Cemetery.
