Francis ("Frank") Kindseth, age 94, of Twin Valley, MN, died Sunday, October 28, 2018, at Sanford Health Hospital in Fargo, ND.

Frank was born October 11, 1924, to Magnus and Charlotte (Bjerkley) at home on their farm near Gary, MN. He was the fifth of eight children whose parents died at an early age, leaving the children to care for themselves with the help of an aunt and uncle. Frank attended school in Gary, graduating when he was only 16. Following graduation, he worked for an area farmer until he was old enough to enlist with the Army Air Corps. Frank proudly served his country as a gunner on a B-29 Bomber during WWII. He was stationed out of Saipan and flew 35 missions. He received the Purple Heart Award and was honorably discharged in 1945.

Frank returned to the Twin Valley area and met a special young lady who just happened to be looking for someone to join her on a recreational airplane ride. It was love at first sight, and Frank was united in marriage to Jean Weium on May 11, 1947, at Zion Lutheran Church. The couple made their home in Twin Valley, where Frank managed the hardware store. He began working for Gambles, which over the years took them to Frazee, MN, Fargo, ND, Grand Forks, ND, Little Falls, MN, and Marshall, MN. Upon leaving the hardware business, Frank began his true passion, working as a farm consultant.

In 1990, Frank and Jean returned to Twin Valley to spend their retirement years. Frank continued consulting with the area farmers, helped at the Anderson Funeral Home, and spent countless hours working and volunteering at the Twin Valley Living Center. His specialty was calling Bingo. After many years living at the Normandy in Twin Valley, Frank and Jean had recently moved to the Halstad Living Center to make their home.

Frank thoroughly loved farming and was self-taught in modern agronomy. He was an avid reader, taught Sunday School and held leadership positions in their churches, and was very active in the service organizations in the communities in which they lived. Frank was a member of the Twin Valley Nesseth-Lien Post #431 of the American Legion and the Twin Valley Lions Club, receiving the prestigious Melvin Jones Aeare as well as a special commendation for 50 years of membership.

Frank is survived by his wife of 71 years, Jean, of Halstad; son, Drew Kindseth of Dallas, TX; granddaughter, Anne Kindseth and her husband, Josh Beaty, along with their children, Olive and Jude; and grandson, Tim Kindseth all of Dallas, TX; very special in-laws Avis Korsgaden, and Phyllis and Lynn Weium; a very special niece, Hazel, and her husband Lloyd Thompson; and many additional extended family members. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter-in-law, Sarah; and seven siblings.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, November 3, 2018 at Zion Lutheran Church, Twin Valley. A time of gathering will be one hour prior to the service. Burial with military honors will be at the Twin Valley Memorial Gardens following the service.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers, a donation to a charity of your choice be given in Frank's memory.
