Frances Zimmerman, age 100 of Tucson, Arizona, formerly Mahnomen, Minnesota, died on Friday, October 24, 2008 at Casas Adobe Assisted Living, Tucson, Arizona, under the care of Hospice.

Frances was born on January 6, 1908 in Brainard, Nebraska. As a young girl, they moved to Abercrombie, North Dakota where she grew up and attended school. Upon graduation from high school, Frances enrolled in Nursing School in Breckenridge, Minnesota.
In 1908, Frances married Cecil Zimmerman. Following their union, the couple made their home in Kent, MN, for many years before moving to Mahnomen in 1967.

Frances helped Cecil with the farm and also worked part time at area nursing homes. Following Cecil's death in 1975, Frances remained in Mahnomen and worked as a housekeeper for multiple years. She retired in 2001 at the age of 92. Later that year, Frances moved in with her daughter and son-in-law, Edith and Maurice, together spending their summers on Pelican Lake, Minnesota – heading south to Arizona for the winters.

Frances learned to enjoy the winters in Arizona, realizing she could be outside all year and was able to watch the roadrunners, quail, lizards and coyotes. An avid traveler, she took in several sights over the years; among her favorites were Disneyland in Los Angeles, the San Diego Zoo, Mexico, Alabama, Washington D.C., and Jackson Hole, Wyoming.
