Frances "Fran" R. Gigler, 85, of Fertile, MN, passed away at Fair Meadow Nursing Home in Fertile, on Tuesday, July 7, 2020.

Frances "Fran" Gigler was born on March 6, 1935 to Philip and Christine (Motteberg) Hanson in Fertile, MN.  She attended Fertile High School and graduated in 1953.  While in school, she worked at the Fertile Bakery and Red Owl Store.  After graduation she worked at Slat's Ice Cream Bar in Ada, MN, and then at Prudential Insurance Company in Minneapolis, MN.

Fran married Alvin Gigler on April 21, 1956.  They farmed for a short time near Ada, then moved to White Bear Lake, MN.  In 1966, Fran, Alvin and their three children moved to Fertile. Fran was employed for 10 years as the secretary to the High School Principal, as a legal secretary at the Remark Law Office for 13 years, and finally, as a teller at First State Bank for 7 ½ years. Fran served 4 years on the Fertile City Council and 6 years on the Fair Meadow Nursing Home Board.  She also served as an election judge, and on her church's Cemetery and Altar committees.

Survivors include daughter, Debi (Larry) Hagen and their daughters, Molly (Trevor) Wilson, Hannah (Estevan) Sifuentes, all of Moorhead, MN; son, Doug (Lisa) Gigler, Fargo, ND; daughter, Pixi Macicek and her son Cade, both of Hitchcock, TX; great granddaughters, Paislee, Hazel and Bristol Wilson; many nieces and nephews; special nephews, Dwight Gigler and Brad Bramer; and foster daughter, Julie (Spicer) Shelton, Illinois. Fran was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Phyllis Bramer; brother, Norman Hanson; and husband, Alvin.

Memorial Service: 10:30 AM, Friday, September 17, 2021 at Erikson-Vik-Ganje Funeral Home, Fertile, MN, with inurnment to be held at a later date.
