Frances Kneip, age 94, of Twin Valley, MN, died Thursday, February 20, 2014, at the Twin Valley Living Center.
Frances Honek was born at home on May 18, 1919, the oldest child of Anton and Teresa (Ondrush) Honek. Growing up she attended country school and helped on the farm. As a young lady, Frances moved to Minneapolis, MN, for a short time. While living there she lived and worked for a family as a nanny and housekeeper. She moved back to the Mahnomen, MN, area and met the love of her life, Joseph Kneip. On June 29, 1948, Frances was united in marriage to Joseph Kneip at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Mahnomen. The couple made their home in Ada, MN, and Faith, MN, before settling down in Dilworth, MN. They raised their family and spent 48 years in the community. In 2001, Frances and Joe moved to the Normandy Apartments in Twin Valley. Frances has lived the past four years at the Twin Valley Living Center while Joe continues to reside at the Normandy.
Over the years, Frances kept busy in the family home with baking, sewing and tending to their family. She was a wonderful cook and baker, especially her fried chicken and fresh homemade bread and buns. Her bread was so good it even took 1st place at the Minnesota State Fair! Frances also enjoyed gardening and tending to her flowers. Her all-time favorite flower was the Iris. She was currently a member of St. William Catholic Church in Twin Valley. She will be sadly missed by all her family and friends.
Frances is survived by her husband of 65 years, Joe, Twin Valley; four sons: David (Paula) of Nevis, MN, Steven (Karla) of Dent, MN, Mark of Glyndon, MN, and Jeff (Ann) of Columbia, MO; two daughters, Margaret (Phillip) Peterick of Twin Valley, and Judy (Mark) Bryan of Fargo, ND; 14 grandchildren; 19 soon to be 21 great-grandchildren; a brother, George (Ellen) Honek of Moorhead, MN; a sister, CeCe (Art) Stillwell of Florence, AZ; a sister-in-law, Monna Honek of Moorhead; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her twin brother, Frank; brother, John; and brother and sister-in-law, Tony (Anna).
Mass of Christian Burial was held on Tuesday, February 25, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. in St. William Catholic Church, Twin Valley. Visitation was on Monday, February 24 from 5-7 p.m. with a Prayer Service at 7 p.m. and one hour prior to the service all at the church. Serving as Celebrant was Fr. Joe DeCrans with special music provided by Monica Winter. Pallbearers were her grandsons: Jim Peterick, Joe Peterick, John Peterick, Matthew Kneip, Travis Bryan and Joe Kneip. Honorary pallbearers were her granddaughters: Jennifer Bement, Jackie Allen, Maggie Kneip, Sarah Wacker, Casey Kiehne, Laura Monley, Leah Kneip and Kayla Bollman.
Burial was in St. William Catholic Cemetery, Twin Valley.
