Obituary

Frances M. Karczeuski, 91, of rural Buxton, N.D., formerly of Wheatland, N.D. passed away Saturday afternoon February 18, 2017, at Halstad (MN) Living Center with family present.

Frances Ficht was born June 13, 1925, the daughter of Francis "Frank" and Mary (Rhode) Ficht. Her early years were spent on the family farm by Brass Ball Corners, Kenosha, Wisconsin. While on the farm her main responsibility was managing the chicken and egg business, caring for more than 2,000 birds at a time.

She met and later married Stanley C. Karczeuski on January 24, 1946. Her marriage lasted for 49 years until Stanley's passing in December 1995. In 1968 they moved to Neillsville, Wisconsin to own and operate a dairy farm. Frances loved gardening and caring for all the farm animals.

Upon retirement they moved to Truth or Consequences, New Mexico where she was very active in the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) auxiliary both on the local and state level. One of her fondest memories was giving the keynote speech at the state DAV convention in 1985. After Stanley's death she moved to Wheatland, N.D. to be near family.

Frances is survived by her son Michael (Judi) Karczeuski, daughter Marcia (Arlin) Hinkelmann, six grandchildren; Melissa, Heather, Miranda, Michelle, Aaron, and Mickey, and ten great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents Frank and Mary Ficht, brother, Albert Ficht, sister, Loretta Ficht Duffy, and granddaughter, Elizabeth Hinkelmann.

Frances is being cremated and a graveside service is being planned for late Spring at the Casselton, N.D. Cemetery.
