Obituary

Father Frances "Frank" Kulhawik, 100, of Crookston, MN, formerly Twin Valley, MN, died Wednesday, September 02, 2015, in Villa St. Vincent, Crookston.

Frances Joseph Kulhawik was born September 20, 1914, the son of Nickedemus and Josephine (Jurewicz) Kulhawik in Shenandoah, Pennsylvania, where he was raised. Frank, as he was known to everyone, was baptized at St. Casimir's Catholic Church in Shenandoah and attended school there. After his graduation from high school, Frank went into the seminary and was ordained May 18, 1940, by Bishop Crane of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia. For several years, Fr. Frank was a priest at several churches throughout the Philadelphia diocese. In 1973, he transferred to the Crookston Diocese. Fr. Frank was Chaplain at St. Francis Residence in Crookston from 1974 to 1975. Fr. Frank was Administrator at St. John in Georgetown and St. Lawrence in Felton from 1975 to 1977. He served as pastor at St. John the Baptist in Alma from 1977 to 1982 and Assumption in Florian from 1977 to 1984. During his last years at Assumption, Fr. Frank also served at St. Edward in Strandquist from 1982 to 1984. For the following six years, he was pastor for St. Patrick in Hallock and Holy Rosary in Lancaster. Fr. Frank was then the Administrator at St. Joseph in Fertile from 1990 to 1993 and St William in Twin Valley from 1990 to 1996. After his retirement, Fr. Frank continued to serve the sacramental needs of many parishes in the Diocese of Crookston including St. William Catholic Church in Twin Valley.

Fr. Frank enjoyed traveling and was an amateur photographer. He greatly respected and treasured the teachings of two of his favorite Popes, which were Pope Pius the 11th and Pope John Paul the 2nd. Fr Frank dedicated his life to the Lord and many people were greatly blessed through his ministry.

Fr. Frank is survived by several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, four sisters and three brothers.

Funeral Services were held on Tuesday, September 8, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. at St. William Catholic Church, Twin Valley. Visitation was at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, September 7, with a Prayer Service at 3:00 p.m. at St. William Catholic Church. Visitation was also one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday.
