Floyd E. Strand

Floyd E. Strand, 84, Halstad, MN, died Saturday May 15, 2010, at the Halstad Living Center, Halstad, MN.

Floyd was born on July 16, 1925, on the family farm north of Shelly, MN. His parents were Magnus and Bella (Aanenson) Strand. He attended country school at District #17. He helped out on the farm when growing up and also worked for his uncle, Richard Aanenson. He later farmed jointly with his brother, Arvid, in the Shelly area. Floyd raised potatoes, sheep and chickens. He did custom bailing. He moved with his parents to a farm and lived there until 2004, when he moved into Halstad. He entered the Halstad Living Center in 2007. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, loved all animals, especially his dog, Beaver, who he trained to get his mail. Queenie, another dog would travel around the area with Floyd, checking on crops and visiting with friends and neighbors, he enjoyed his vegetable garden, cooking and his daily journaling.

Floyd is survived by his brother, Vernon (MaryAnn) Strand, Shelly, MN, his sister, Irene Anderson, Halstad, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Arvid and Maurice, and one sister, Geneva Copeland.

Funeral: 10:30AM, Thursday, May 20, 2010, at Shelly Marsh River Lutheran Church, Shelly, MN.
Visitation: One hour before the funeral at the church.
Burial: Zion Lutheran Cemetery, rural Shelly, MN.
