Floyd LaFriniere Jr., age 71, of Naytahwaush, MN died on Thursday, May 12, 2022 at his home.
Floyd Anthony LaFriniere, the son of Floyd Sr. and Gertrude (Spicer) LaFriniere, was born July 29, 1950 in Mahnomen, MN. He was raised in Roy Lake, MN, an grew up enjoying the outdoors. As a young man, Floyd earned his degree in carpentry from the Detroit Lakes Vocational School. He worked a variety of jobs and was a jack of all trades. Floyd worked in the woods, leaching, ricing, and fishing, as well as held security positions at the casino's in Mahnomen, and Grand Portage. He wasn't afraid to try anything and always worked hard. Floyd met Loris Londo and together they raised three daughters: Jody, Bambi, and Elizabeth. After many years together, Floyd and Loris were united in marriage shortly before her death in 2016. Floyd loved spending time with his family and cherished his girls. With a generous heart, he helped raise several of his grandchildren. He had a terrific sense of humor and was known for telling stories. He was especially happy when he was able to tease his most gullible family members. In his quieter times, he liked playing dominos and cribbage with Rock and good friends. Over the past several years, Floyd's friendship with Ann Brown blossomed into a loving companionship. Floyd and Ann have since shared a life and blended their families together as one. His kind spirit and great love of his family was evident throughout his life and will be greatly missed.
Floyd is survived by his significant other, Ann Brown; his children: Jody (Ed), Bambi, Liz (Jerry), Tessie (Bean), Tesshelle (Lucus), Michala, Mykee (Frank), Bonita, Persephone, Michael; grandchildren: Tiffany, Derek, Trevor, Destane, Hannah, Fawn, Jessie, Shantay, Miley, Jerome, Aryanna, and Corey; all of Ann's grandchildren who he loved as his own; his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; the entire Londo family; 10 great grandchildren; and all of his nephews who he thought of as brothers.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Loris; siblings: Florence "Peany", John, Cele, Edith, Maggie, Joseph, and Frances; and his son-in-law, Corey Bush.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 pm on Tuesday, May 17, 2022 at St. Anne's Catholic Church in Naytahwaush.
