Floyd E. Burnette Sr., age 50, of Naytahwaush, MN, died Monday, November 22, 2010 at Sanford Health Systems in Fargo, ND.
Floyd Edward was born September 2, 1960 in White Earth, MN, the son of Floyd and Thelma (Burnette) Coleman. He lived the majority of his life on the White Earth Reservation with the exception of 14 years that he spent in Minneapolis, MN. He returned home to the Naytahwaush area in 1995.
Floyd's unique personality and sense of humor could make anyone laugh. He loved to make you laugh while bumming chump change then turn around and do his dance, the Roadie Dance. Floyd was quick on trivia questions and enjoyed playing cards. Some of his favorite pastimes including playing cribbage, poker and going to the casino. Floyd was known to do anything for family especially for his mother, Thelma.
Floyd is survived by his mother, Thelma (Ronald) Coleman, Naytahwaush, MN; long time companion, Terri Fairbanks, Naytahwaush; four sons: Bruce Partridge, Minneapolis, MN, Floyd Burnette Jr., Red Lake, MN, Christopher Strong and Thomas Strong, both of Bemidji, MN; one daughter, Denise Strong, Bemidji; four grandchildren; two brothers, David (Beth) Burnette and Jeffery Coleman, both of Naytahwaush; one sister, Shirlene Wakemup, also Naytahwaush.
Floyd was preceded in death by his father; one brother; two sisters; and one nephew.
Funeral Services were held on Wednesday, December 1, 2010 at 11 am at the Sports Complex in Naytahwaush. Pastor Tim Brown was the officiant and special music was provided by Tim & Tammy Brown and Pat Moran. Pallbearers were Charles Coleman, Louis Londo, Avery Fairbanks, Jason Bellanger Sr., Arnie Martin and Richard Littlewolf. Honorary pallbearers were Sonny Wadena, Henry Vannette, AJ Goodwin, John "Gook" Gordon, Chad Burnette, Craig Burnette and Cory Burnette. Visitation began at 5 pm on Tuesday with a prayer service at 7 pm and continued until time of the service on Wednesday, all at the Sports Complex.
Burial was in the Free Gospel Alliance Cemetery, Naytahwaush, MN.
