Obituary

Florence Miller, age 85 of Mahnomen, MN, died Sunday, November 23, 2008 in her home.
Florence Ann was born September 16, 1923 in Wahpeton, ND, the daughter of George and Anna (Rehm) Voit. As a young child, she moved with her family to the Mahnomen area. Growing up, Florence attended country school and graduated from Mahnomen High School with the class of 1941. She was united in marriage to Ervin Miller on June 10, 1941 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Beaulieu, MN. Following their union the couple farmed on several places northeast of Mahnomen, before purchasing a farm east of Beaulieu. They would spend the next 40 years on that farm where they raised their own family. In addition to tending to the children and helping Ervin with the chores, Florence also worked at the sewing factory from 1970-1975. In the late 1980's, they retired from the farm and moved into their home in Mahnomen. Ervin died on September 25, 2003 and Florence continued to live in town.
Florence was a very generous and giving person and always placed others before herself. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, and making quilts. Her family was very important to her and her strong faith was evident in her day to day activities. Florence was a member of St. Joseph's/St. Michael's Parish Family and also the Christian Mothers of Beaulieu.
Florence is survived by four sons: Robert (Phyllis) Miller, Thief River Falls, MN, George (Delores) Miller, Mahnomen, Richard (Dyanne) Miller, Fertile, MN, and Daniel (Gayla) Miller, Mentor, MN; five daughters: Joyce (Donald) Klinkhammer, Waubun, MN, Linda (Douglas) Hand, Fosston, MN, Nancy (Douglas) Nelson, Ramsey, MN, Phyllis (Michael) Inwards, Pelican Rapids, MN, and Gayle (Robert) Halvorson, White House, TN; 32 grandchildren; 53 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Ervin (Bernice) Voit, and Leonard (Luella) Voit, both Mahnomen; and two sisters, Lillian (Melvin) Haider, Mahnomen, and Mary Papka, Billings, MT.
