Obituary

Florence Horn, 98, Twin Valley, MN, died Friday, Sept. 4, 2015, at the Twin Valley Living Center, Twin Valley, MN.

Florence M. Horn was born January 1, 1917, at Erskine, MN, the daughter of John and Hana (Brown) Hagen. She grew up on a farm and attended school in the Erskine area. As a young lady she and her sister moved to Fertile, MN, where Florence worked in a café. On November 8, 1937, Florence was united in marriage to Geff Horn in Fertile. They made their home east of Twin Valley. Florence and Geff owned and operated a farm and she was always active in the farm work in addition to raising her family. After her husband's death in 1984, Florence lived a short time with her son before purchasing a home in Twin Valley. In the early 2000's she moved from her home to the Johnson Apartments, also in Twin Valley. At the age of 92, Florence became a resident of the Twin Valley Living Center where she had made her home since.

Florence was active in the Wild Rice Lutheran Church, serving on both the ladies aid and quilting group, as long as her heath allowed her. She was an avid reader and loved to play bingo. For nearly 60 years, Florence was member of the Neighborhood Ladies Birthday Club, which met every month and many close friendships were made. Florence was still taking part in these monthly gatherings with her dear friends while she was living at the nursing home. Her friendships were cherished as was the wonderful memories she made with her children and grandchildren.

Florence is survived by her son, Harvey (Sandy) of Gary, MN; two daughters, Gloria Sirjord, Gary, MN, and Ann (Cliff) Taralson, Fargo, ND; 13 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and three great- great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Geff, three brothers, nine sisters, two grandsons, 12 brothers-in-law, four sisters-in-law, and one son-in-law.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Sept. 12th at 11:00am at Wild Rice Lutheran Church, rural Twin Valley, MN. Visitation was one hour before services at the church. Pastor Al Brooks officiated with music being provided by the Habadank family. Her pallbearers were grandsons: Curtis Taralson, Bruce Taralson, Keith Taralson, Terry Taralson, Wayne Taralson, Paul Taralson, Avery Sirjord, Jerome Sirjord, Eric Sirjord and Matt Horn. Her honorary pallbearers were all of her Granddaughters and the ladies of her Birthday Club.

Burial was in the Wild Rice Lutheran Cemetery, rural Twin Valley, MN
