Florence M. Erickson, 92, of Twin Valley, MN, died Monday, January 22, 2018, at the Twin Valley Living Center.

Florence Mae Slininger was born to Charlie and Fanny (Hornby) Slininger on August 4, 1925, in Lake Ida Township, rural Ada, MN. She grew up on the family farm where everyone was always welcome and hard work went hand in hand with fun. She was baptized and confirmed at Grace Lutheran Church, Ada; and attended Bloomfield County School District 24. Florence married Oscar J. Erickson on February 2, 1946. The couple made their home in Lake Ida Township for nearly 50 years. Florence spent her years raising children and being very involved with their farm operation while Oscar made a living as a carpenter. Some of these duties included field work, chores, baling hay, gardening, and canning. Florence worked at Bob's Café (senior meals) in Ada, and South Side Café in Twin Valley; along with babysitting three grandchildren during their preschool years. Florence and Oscar moved into Twin Valley in 1998. After Oscar's death in December 1999, Florence remained in her home until moving into the Valley Pines Apartments in 2011. She began making her home at the Twin Valley Living Center in 2014 where she remained until her death.

Her caring personality was demonstrated through Florence's helping hands. She was a volunteer for RSVP (Retired Seniors Volunteer Program) for 18 years. She was active in the Ada VFW Auxiliary, and a member and adult leader in the Jolly-Co-Workers 4-H Club. If you were stopping by Florence and Oscar's place, 'lunch and coffee' were always a part of the visit. Florence loved to dance and could even yodel. She enjoyed playing cards and Dominoes with friends and grandchildren. She had the ability to visit with anyone at any time and enjoyed each opportunity to do so. Most of all, Florence cherished her family and the time she was able to spend with them.

Florence is survived by four sons, Danny (Nancy Perry) of Clint, TX, Dennis (Cathy) of Pelican Rapids, MN, Dale (Sheila) of Vergas, MN, and David (Barb Archer) of Panama City Beach, FL; one daughter, Debera (Loren) Eken of Twin Valley; 12 grandchildren, Greg Erickson, Tim Erickson, Nichole Nelson, Brad Erickson, Lee Erickson, Dana Erickson, Becky Donner, Jeff Erickson, Holly Messner, Laura Anderson, Cale Eken, and Kaitlin Eken; 17 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; one brother, Burton Slininger of Twin Valley; sister-in-law, Luverne (Calman) Bredman of Ada; family friend, Donald Restad of Champaign, IL; and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband; her parents; four brothers, Melvin, Roy, Clyde, and Russell; six sisters, Mabel, Gladys, Lila, Iva, Margaret, and Orvilla; great-granddaughter, Amanda Erickson; six sisters-in-law; and 13 brothers-in-law.

A funeral service will be held Tuesday, January 30 ^th at 2:00 PM in the Grace Lutheran Church in Ada, MN. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Interment will be held at the Ada Cemetery following the service.
