Fern Ashmore passed away on Saturday, March 8, 2008, at Eventide Nursing Home in Moorhead, Minnesota, at the age of 81.

Fern M. Groslie was born on May 22, 1926, in Twin Valley, Minnesota, to parents, Oscar & Minnie (Underdahl) Groslie. She grew up in Twin Valley and attended school there, graduating from Twin Valley High School with the class 1944. On December 14, 1952 Fern was united in marriage to Leo Ashmore at Twin Valley. The couple settled in Ulen, Minnesota, to raise their family of five sons. They continued to make their home in Ulen until the early 1990's when she and Leo moved to Moorhead. After Leo's death in 1996, Fern continued to make her home in Moorhead and more recently had become a resident of Eventide Nursing Home.

Fern loved family most of all and treasured the time she spent with all of them. She was a devoted mother and wife. She also loved to laugh, dance and spend time with her friends.

Fern is survived by five sons, Pepper (Debra) of Moorhead, MN, Deslyn (Julie) of Denver, CO, Monte (Debra) of Ulen, MN, Flint (Beth) of Moorhead, MN and Trevor of Dilworth, MN; one sister, Charmaine Jensen of Detroit Lakes, MN 10 grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Fern was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

Funeral services were Wednesday, March 12, at 11:00am in the Trinity Lutheran Church, Moorhead, MN. Pastor Steven Wold officiated with Peder Nygaard as organist. Cemone Oberg provided the vocal selections. Her pallbearers are Brock Ashmore, Christopher Ashmore, Branden Ashmore, Blake Ashmore, Chase Ashmore and Michael Stotts. The honorary pallbearers are Alissa Stotts, Stephanie Ashmore, Meghan Ashmore, Laura Ashmore, Alexa Ashmore, Jada Ashmore, Hannah Stotts, and Gavin Ashmore. Interment was in the Calvary Lutheran Cemetery, Ulen, MN
