Faye A. Olson, 82, Moorhead, MN, formerly of Fertile, MN, passed away on Tuesday, May 5, 2026 at Lilac Homes Memory Care in Moorhead.

Faye Annette (Johnson) Olson, 82, of Fertile, MN was born March 23, 1944, to Orvis and Olga Johnson, Fertile, MN. She grew up on a dairy and grain farm east of Fertile near Rindal, MN.

She attended Willow Creek Country School near her home through the 7th grade, started 8th grade at Fertile High School, and graduated in 1962.

After high school, she worked at First State Bank in Ada. She married Verdell Olson on December 14, 1963, at Faaberg Church in Rindal. She worked at Culligan Water Conditioning and later attended and graduated from Josef's School of Hair Design in Fargo, ND and opened Phase I hair salon in Fertile. They also lived in Babbitt, MN, for two years, before moving back to Fertile. Faye and Verdell started farming on the Refling-Johnson farm. Faye and Verdell also raised bison outside of Fertile for many years, started a catering business called Fa Ver's, and went to many fairs and events. They also had Olson Farms Seed that they ran for many years out at the farm and then moved right outside of Fertile.

They had four children, Michelle (Daniel) O'Shea, Orlando, FL; Chad Olson, Fertile, MN; Troy (Mary) Olson, Fertile, MN; and JoDee (Travis) Jensrud, Fertile, MN. They have eight grandchildren, Jaimi (John) Dutkowsky, Tampa, FL, Tanner (Hannah) O'Shea, St. Cloud, FL, Samantha (Robert) Davy, Fertile, MN, Anna (Colton) Schrempp, Garfield, MN, Greta Olson, Fertile, MN, and Levi Jensrud, Kenna Jensrud and Emmett Jensrud, Fertile, MN. They have six great-grandchildren, Baby Dutkowsky, Oaklynn and Olson O'Shea, Gracelynn and Graham Davy, and Natalie Schrempp.

Faye enjoyed walking, reading, and solving crossword and Sudoku puzzles. She loved dogs, cats, old western movies, game shows, and news stories.

She is survived by her husband, Verdell; three children, eight grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren; her mother, Olga Johnson; two sisters, Kathleen (Rick) Stuhaug and Patricia Polley; along with many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her father, Orvis Johnson; her father and mother-in-law, Alvin "Bill" and Edna Olson; her son, Chad Olson; her brothers-in-law, Gale Olson, Ervin Olson, and Mark Polley.

Celebration of Life Service: 11:00 AM Tuesday, May 12, 2026 at Concordia Lutheran Church, Fertile, MN.

Visitation: One hour before the service at the church.

Inurnment: Concordia South Cemetery, Fertile, MN.
