Evelyn Tupa, age 92 of Mahnomen, MN, died on Monday, June 2, 2008 at the Mahnomen Health Center.
Evelyn B. Tupa was born on January 22, 1916 in Mahnomen, the daughter of Matt and Rosie (Sindler) Tupa. She was raised with her three brothers in Mahnomen. Evelyn attended and graduated from Mahnomen High School. Later, she received her degree from Interstate Business College in Fargo, ND. During WWII she worked in the personnel office at the Gopher Ordnance Plant in Rosemount, MN, and the Hanford Ordnance Plant in Hanford, WA. Evelyn also worked for Minneapolis Equipment Company for over 40 years until her retirement. In June of 1992, she moved to Mahnomen where she continued to make her home.
Evelyn was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church in Mahnomen. She enjoyed traveling and spent many winters in warmer climates. Over the years she was able to take several trips including Italy and Hawaii. Evelyn treasured spending time with her family, especially playing with her great –great nieces and nephews.
Evelyn is survived by two nephews: Paul (Sharon) Tupa of The Villages, FL and Fr. Jerome Tupa of Collageville, MN; one niece, Helen Spaeth of Mahnomen; one great-nephew, Steve (Tara) Spaeth of Naythawaush, MN; one great-niece, Kristi (Darrel) Slette of Mahnomen; and four great-great nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, June 5, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Michaels Catholic Church in Mahnomen, with visitation taking place one hour prior to the service at the church.
