Eunice Adelle Tollerud Wold was born April 5, 1918 in Pelican Rapids, MN to Idan and Hilda (Grina) Tollerud. She was baptized on May 5th at North Immanuel Church in Norwegian Grove and was confirmed in October of 1931. She attended school at 'District 48' for six years and then moved to Pelican Rapids at the age of 12 to start High School. After graduation, she continued her education at Lacrosse Teacher's College and taught at Center Grove, rural Barnesville and Rothsay. While teaching at Barnhard, Eunice met Arnold Wold. They were married on November 19, 1943 and after World War II lived in Fergus Falls. In 1953 they moved to Ulen and opened Wold's Dry Goods and Variety Store and later Arnold worked as a Rural Mail Carrier.
Eunice was very active in the community and Church, serving as an excellent Church Organist, playing the piano at Viking Manor and teaching School in Borup and Ulen. She is remembered as a devoted wife, a wonderful Mother, a proud Grandmother and Great-Grandmother, a woman who delighted in her many friendships, a student of Scripture and a woman of prayer who glorified God in all that she did. She made diligent use of the Means of Grace, both Word and Sacraments at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Ulen. Almost two years ago, she moved to Riverpointe in Moorhead and lived there until her death at the age of 93. Eunice died in the Palliative Care Unit at Sanford Health on September 20th.
Eunice is survived by her children, Stephen (Terrie) Wold and Marie (Ken) Kading all of Moorhead, MN; grandchildren and great-grandchildren include Naomi (Mark) McGaughey and sons, Ethan and Conner, Sarah Ray (Joey Benjamin) and son, Alistair, Brett (Marcy) Kading and sons, Alex, Ben and Isaac, DeAnne (Richard) Powell, and Randi (Jon) Beckerleg and son, Owen; her brother, Manley (Elenora) Tollerud of Apple Valley, MN and a sister-in-law, Jean Tollerud Hood River, Oregon. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Arnold and her brothers, Lyle and Irvin Tollerud.
Funeral Services were held on Saturday, September 24, 2011at 10:00 AM in Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Ulen. Visitation was Friday from 5 to 7 PM with a Prayer Service at 7 PM also at the church. Visitation was also one hour before services at the church on Saturday. Officiating was Pastor Steve Dahl with Carol Lockhart serving as organist and Susan Green serving as pianist. Vocalists were Terrie Wold and Sarah Ray. Pall Bearers were Edward Tollerud, Everett Tollerud, John Aanden, James Aanden, Brett Kading and Mark McGanghey.
Interment was in North Bethlehem Lutheran Cemetery, rural Ulen.
