Eugene Timmer, age 64, of Mahnomen, MN, died Saturday, March 31, 2007 at the Mahnomen Health Center Hospital.
Eugene Anthony Timmer was born in Wahpeton, ND, on September 5, 1942, the son of Tony and Margaret (Busta) Timmer. He grew up in Grand Forks, ND, where he attended school. As a teenager, Eugene's family moved to the Mahnomen area and he began studying at the AC school in Crookston, MN. Upon his graduation in 1961, Eugene purchased a farm near Mahnomen and began his life of farming. In 1963, he joined the United States National Guard, in which he proudly served for six years. He farmed near Mahnomen for over 40 years, raising cattle, pigs, horses, as well as various crops.
Eugene truly loved farming and dedicated his life to it. He was a faithful member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Beaulieu, MN, where he served on the church council for several years. Eugene was also currently serving on the MAHUBE board. He greatly enjoyed playing cards, snowmobiling, watching westerns and sharing treats from the Dairy Queen with his family. He will be greatly missed by many.
He is survived by his mother, Margaret of Mahnomen; one sister, Eileen (Ray) Kaster of Fertile, MN; a special cousin, Bryan Stanton of Atlanta, GA; one niece, Dana Rae (Tim) Pavek of Bluffton, MN; one nephew, Dan Kaster of Los Angeles, CA; two great nieces, Taylor LaVoi and Alexandra Pavek; one great nephew, Aaron Pavek; and his dogs who he adored: Patches and Tippy.
Eugene was preceded in death by his father.
