Ethel Ruebke, 97, Ada, Minnesota, died Friday, June 24th, 2016, at her home, under the care of Hospice with family by her side.
Ethel Caroline Fetting was born August 20, 1918, in Ada, the daughter of Erwin and Olga (Schwanke) Fetting. She was raised on a farm near Ada and attended country school. Ethel met Charles at a dance. On August 14th, 1948, she was united in marriage to Charles Ruebke Sr. They made their home on a farm northeast of Ada, and there they raised their family of seven children. Ethel was a homemaker who enjoyed farm life. In March 1983, Charles and Ethel moved from the family farm to a house in Ada. After they retired, they enjoyed traveling. Charles passed away in 1989, and Ethel continued to reside at their home until her time of death.
Ethel was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, and there she spent time quilting. She enjoyed dancing, cooking, baking cookies and canning pickles. Her other hobbies included cross word puzzles, reading, playing cards, games and watching the Timberwolves and Minnesota Twins.
Ethel was a remarkable woman and her greatest joy was the time she spent with her children, their spouses, her grandchildren and her great grandchildren. She loved to attend her family's concerts, plays and sporting events. She was loving, caring and always put her family first. She was a good listener and confidant. In the eyes of her family she was a champion.
Ethel is survived by her children: Mark (Colleen) Ruebke of Urbana, IL, Steve (Anne Nalawaja) Ruebke of Twin Valley, MN, Bonnie (Terry) Yoney of Fargo, ND, Joni (Greg) Williams of Moorhead, MN, Jim (Kathy) Ruebke, Charles Jr. (Tammie) Ruebke, William (Annette) Ruebke, all of Ada, MN, 10 grandchildren, six great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Charles, brother Jerome Fetting and sister Verona Onstad.
Funeral: 11:00AM, Tuesday, June 28, 2016, at Grace Lutheran Church, Ada, MN.
Visitation: Monday June 27, 2016 from 5-7PM with a prayer service at 7pm at Fredrikson-Ganje Funeral Home, Ada, Minnesota.
Interment: Ada Municipal Cemetery, Ada, MN.
