Obituary

Ethel E. Petry, 80, Ada, MN, died Tuesday, May 22, 2018, under Hospice care, at Benedictine Care Community, Ada, MN.

Ethel Elaine Germolus was born October 4, 1937, the daughter of Ernest and Katie (Woltjer) Germolus, in Ada. She was baptized in 1937, at Winchester Lutheran Church in Borup, MN, and was confirmed June 17, 1951, at Zion Lutheran Church in Ada.

In 1947 she moved with her parents off the farm, at Borup after being there for 25 years.  They moved to International Falls, MN, where her father hoped to get work in the paper mill.

Ethel's schooling included the Echo Country School, Borup Elementary School, International Falls, and she later graduated from Ada High School in 1955. On June 4, 1960, she married Donald Jerome Petry, in Ada. She had worked as a bookkeeper and secretary for J.C.Penneys, she also picked potatoes, sold door to door cards, and at Slats Café. She has been active as a Sunday school teacher, vacation bible school teacher, 4-H leader, church women's group officer, and homemakers club. She had always enjoyed gardening, canning, reading, and needlework.

Ethel is survived by her children, David (Tracy), Baxter, MN, Michael (Lynn), Ada, Steven, Ada, Kristi (Rodney) Tudor, Garrison, NY, and Jeffrey (Melissa) Petry, Ada; three grandchildren, Tate (Katherine) Petry, Katie Petry, and Jessica Tudor; one great grandchild, Charlotte Petry and another expected in June. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Don, and a brother, Leonard Germolus.

Funeral: 11:00AM Friday, May 25, 2018, at Zion Lutheran Church, Ada, MN.

Visitation: Thursday, May 24, 2018, from 6:00PM to 8:00PM with a 7:30PM prayer service at Fredrikson-Ganje Funeral Home, Ada.

Burial: Ada City Cemetery, Ada, MN.
