Obituary

Ernest Klemetson, age 79, of Ulen, MN, died on Monday, October 7, 2019, at Essentia Health in Fargo, ND.

Ernest "Ernie" was born on June 4, 1940, to Joseph and Ella (Mjor) Klemetson at their family farm near Ulen in Atlanta Township, in Becker County. As an infant, he was baptized on July 21, 1940, at Atlanta Lutheran Church. Growing up, Ernie helped on the family farm and attended country school until his junior year when he transferred to Ulen High School. After high school, Ernie helped his parents on the farm until 1959 when he joined the United States Army, where he proudly served with the Army Security Agency in Alaska. Following an honorable discharge, Ernie went to work for his uncle on a farm in Montana before returning to Minnesota. On October 5, 1963, Ernie was united in marriage to Adeline Olson. They were blessed with five daughters: Connie, Judy, Debbie, Joyce, and Tamie, followed by two sons, Chad and Richard. Ernie then began his career as a truck driver until the early 1990's when he began working as a janitor for the Ulen Public School District followed by Moorhead High School until his retirement. Ernie was also a Ulen VFW Commander, which he enjoyed very much.

During his retirement years, Ernie could be found pursuing his lifelong love of wood working and traveling. His travels were always much more enjoyable when they included trips to visit friends and family. Ernie cherished spending time with his family and was a man of great work ethic and integrity. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Ernie is survived by his wife of 56 years, Adeline of Ulen; five daughters: Connie (Steve) Schroeder of Detroit Lakes, Judy Wolf (Timothy Savior) of Ogema, Debbie Laporte of Langdon, ND, Joyce (Eric) Boman of Twin Valley, and Tamie Nelson of Ulen; two sons: Chad (Lisa) Klemetson of Dilworth and Richard Klemetson of Hitterdal; one sister, Evelyn (Clayton) Hoebelheinrich of Sumner, WA; 25 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Ella; one sister, Myrtle; one grandson, Keith; and three great grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 15, 2019, at Salem Lutheran Church, Hitterdal, MN. Visitation will be held Monday, October 14, 2019, from 5-7 p.m. with a Prayer Service starting at 6:30 p.m. all at the church. Burial will be held in Salem Lutheran Cemetery.
