Eric A. Strand, 62, Tacoma, WA, passed away on Monday, August 19, 2024, at his home in Tacoma.

Eric, the son of Tilford and Myrna (Fetting) Strand, was born on September 19, 1961. He grew up on the family farm in Lake Ida Township, Norman County, and graduated from Ada High School in 1979. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Natural Resources and Environmental Studies from the University of Minnesota, and worked as a researcher and soil scientist for Twin Cities Testing, 3M, and the U of M's Soil Science and Food Science departments in the 1990's.

Eric spent the last twenty-eight years of his life in the Pacific Northwest, after accepting a job at Weyerhaeuser in Seattle in 1996. He moved to Tacoma in 2008 and spent his last years working for Nucor Rebar Fabrication.

Eric was an avid scuba diver, with well over 400 dives around the world. He enjoyed road bicycles and his Harley Davidson, logging many miles across the United States and Canada. Eric became a collector of Inuit art, and was a member of several museums both in Washington and British Columbia. He was also an enthusiastic fan of the Vancouver Canucks NHL team and the Brighton & Hove Albion Football Club.

Eric was preceded in death by his parents, Tilford and Myrna. He is survived by his brothers Scott (Pamela), Minneapolis, MN, and Kirk (Vicki), Punta Gorda, FL and Lake Park, MN.

A private family graveside service will be held at the Ada Municipal Cemetery.
