Obituary

Elsie Ethel Grivno Starkweather (Grandma Elsie), 96, Ada, MN passed away peacefully on Monday, November 18, 2019 at Sanford Hospital in Fargo, ND. surrounded by her family.

Elise loved working in her yard and gardens. You could drive by her home at any time and see her mowing or working in her yard.   She loved to mow and could whip around that yard at the speed of lightning.   Elsie loved watching and feeding the birds and the squirrels in her yard

Elsie also loved to bowl and was active in the Ada and Twin Valley Leagues and has many trophies to prove her bowling skills. She enjoyed baking, canning, and making lefse with her family and good friend Laverne.   She also loved to make and try different soups which started to be a Christmas family tradition   She also loved driving tractor and working ground when she farmed with her husband Marvin, in fact she just stopped driving her tractor a couple of years ago.

Elsie was the longest standing congregational member of Zion Lutheran Church in which her parents were charter members. She loved her church and loved serving in Ladies Aid and held many positions. She also was very active with helping with VBS and came up with all of the art projects that many kids participated in. She also loved to quilt with all of her friends at church and enjoyed making quilts for all of her children and grandchildren.

Elsie was also a sales representative for Artex and renamed to Tri-Chem, where she travelled all over northern Minnesota showing her wares and helping others experience colors and art. She also made many dishtowels by using Tri-Chem paints or embroidery. Every one of her granddaughers have a set that was made in love for them.

She also loved to deer hunt with her grandsons and son-in-law and did for many years, and carried her trusty 410 Shotgun. She was a lady before her time as she loved to go snowmobiling, three-wheeling and gopher trapping with her husband Marvin and good neighbors. Elsie also had a love of dogs and had many over the years, and always had her Ginger by her side and many times if you would visit, Ginger and Grandma would be in her chair watching TV and napping. Elsie loved her family and over the years was caretaker to many of her siblings and elderly relatives. Elsie's biggest enjoyment was caring and playing with her grandkids and great grandkids and being with her family.

This fun-loving, strong minded lady will be missed by many. She is preceded in death by her parents Harm and Minnie Cirks, her first husband, Marvin Grivno, her second husband Bob Starkweather, Son, Bobby Grivno and daughter Karen E.
