Ellen "Ellie" Kluver, age 91, of Ulen, MN passed away on May 21, 2022, at the Viking Manor Nursing Home in Ulen.
Ellie Kluver was born November 29, 1930, at the home of a midwife in Shevlin, MN. Her parents lived in the country, eight miles from Solway, MN. When Ellie was a child, she helped peel logs for a new house which was built by her dad and uncles. Ellie was responsible, along with two sisters, to take care of five nanny goats. Ellie attended two different country elementary schools north of Tenstrike, MN. In 1941, Ellie and her family moved to Bemidji, MN where she attended junior high. Ellie did not graduate from high school but after the birth of her fourth child, she received her GED, equivalent to a high school degree. In October 1949, Ellie married Adolph (Joe) Kluver. They were married by her father-in-law, pastor Emanuel Kluver, in Pinewood, MN. Ellie and Joe worked at a resort in Le Sueur, MN and then at a resort ten miles north of Bemidji. From there, they moved to Fargo, ND, and a few years later moved to Bemidji. Ellie moved to Ulen in 1999. Ellie worked as a housewife and alongside her husband at their H&R Block business as a receptionist. Ellie owned a ceramic shop for three years, where she enjoyed holding ceramic classes, until the building shop sold. She also worked as a nurse's aide (CNA) at a nursing home in Bemidji for thirteen and half years.
Ellie was active in church most of her adult life where she served as a Sunday school teacher and on the alter guild while attending church in Bemidji. After moving to Ulen, she practiced her faith at Bethlehem Lutheran Church and joined the quilter's group where they made quilts for world relief. She enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, word search puzzles, and coloring in adult coloring books, or "pretty pictures" as her kids say. Ellie loved playing whist and bingo and attending many other activities during her time at Viking Manor Nursing Home. She also enjoyed visiting with the other residents and always willing to share a smile. Ellie was an amazing mother and grandmother to her family. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her children: Kathy (Marion), Inez (Gary), Vicki, Joe (Lisa), and Brian (Jenise); a sister; multiple grandchildren and great grandchildren. Ellie was a great mom and grandma. She was preceded in death by a son, both parents, one son-in-law, two sisters, and one brother.

Visitation will be held pm Wednesday, May 25, 2022, at the church from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm, with a Prayer Service beginning at 6:30. Burial will take place at Keene Lutheran Cemetery, rural Ulen.
