Ellen Ida Theresa Hedrich, 100, died on Friday, September 14, 2012, at the Fair Meadow Nursing Home, Fertile, MN. She was born on December 28, 1911, to August and Eleanor (Schlueter) Woller in Gaylord, MN. She was baptized on January 28, 1912, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, in Gaylord. Her parents farmed in Dryden Township, Sibley County, Minnesota. Ellen attended public and parochial schools near her home. On March 26, 1925, Ellen confirmed her faith in Jesus Christ also at Immanuel Lutheran Church.
On November 23, 1938, Ellen was united in marriage to Walter Hedrich of Gary, MN. They worked in Gaylord for two years and then moved to Gary, in 1940, to begin farming in Spring Creek Township, Norman County. They farmed together until 1974, and moved to Fertile in 1975. Walter died in May of 1977.
Ellen learned at a young age to work hard at whatever she did. She and Walter tended to many animals and farmed crops for sale and their personal needs. Traveling with relatives around the country was a joy to her. Bible studies at her home drew many and were always concluded with a tasty snack. Ellen was a longtime member of First Evanger Lutheran Church, Fertile.
Ellen is survived by four sisters-in-law: Helen Nelson, Hillsboro, ND; Dorothy Hanson, Ada, MN; Marcella Olson, Crosby, MN; and Evelyn VonHoldt, Hoyt Lakes, MN; one brother-in-law, Orville "Billy" Hedrich, Hill City, MN; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Walter, seven sisters: Laura, Della, Cora, Clara, Dorothea, Grace, and Orma; and one brother, Arnold Woller.

Funeral services will be on Tuesday September 18, 2012, at 11 AM in the First Evanger Lutheran Church, Fertile, MN.

Visitation will be one hour before the services in the church.

Burial will be in the Concordia Lutheran Cemetery, Fertile, MN
