Elizabeth "Betty" Larson, age 87, of Twin Valley, MN, passed away on Friday, April 11, 2025 at the Benedictine Care Community of Ada in Ada, MN.

Elizabeth Marie Nohr was born on October 29, 1937, in Tower City, ND, to Fred and Lillian (Stanhope) Nohr. She was raised in Gary, MN, where she attended school and graduated in 1955 as valedictorian of her class. Betty continued her education at Interstate Business College and later at Northwest Technical College in Moorhead, MN, studying secretarial work.

On December 21, 1957, Betty married Mervyn Larson at Gary Lutheran Church. Together, they built a life rooted in faith, family, and hard work. In 1965, they purchased Mervyn's father's farm, where they raised their four children, milked cows, raised pigs and chickens, and tended extensive vegetable and flower gardens. Betty enjoyed canning the garden's bounty each season, providing for her family year-round. In 1985, the couple sold the cattle and machinery but continued to enjoy farm life until 2012, when they moved into Twin Valley.

Throughout her life, Betty worked in a variety of roles, including waitress, receptionist, and bookkeeper in the Twin Valley, Gary, and Ada areas. Beyond her professional work, she was deeply involved in her church and community. She taught Sunday school, led 4-H groups, and held several leadership positions at Zion Lutheran Church, including two terms on the Board of Trustees, church treasurer, memorial fund treasurer, vice president of ALCW, church secretary, and also superintendent of Sunday school at the Gary Lutheran Church. She was also a proud member of the church quilting group, creating many treasured quilts for family, friends, and community members. A woman of many talents, Betty loved music from a young age, teaching herself to play piano and singing in the church choir.

Betty will be remembered for her strong faith, warm heart, and tireless devotion to her family, friends, and community.

Betty is survived by four children; Mervyn Jr. (Clarene), Robin (Paula), James (Kim), Kathryn (Dawn) Larson-Fritz; 13 grandchildren; Tracie, Chad, Mandie, Maggie, Tony, Stacey, Kathy, Julie, Eilis, Kelly, Erin, Elijah, and Bryson; many beloved great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; sisters, Maxine Cariveau, Bonnie Awender, Karen Horn, Diane (Bob) Strommen, and Gail (Duane) Nephew; and several sisters-in-law and brothers-in law. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Mervyn; brothers, Bob (Carma) Nohr, Gerald (Jan) Nohr, and Douglas Nohr; sister, Laura Christensen; brothers-in-law, Jack Larson, Dale Cariveau, Robert Awender, and Roland Johnson.
