Elaine Gunderson, age 80, of Alexandria, MN, formerly of Bejou, MN, passed away on Saturday, May 1, 2021 at Alomere Hospital in Alexandria.

Nora Elaine Wallin was born on July 19, 1940 in Superior, WI. Growing up as the middle child with two brothers and two sisters set her lifelong path for achievement and creativity. As a young girl raised in the Wisconsin countryside, she loved the great outdoors, animals, nature, flowers, vegetable gardens and fellowship, all of which made for a lifetime of many great memories. Attending school was a great enjoyment for her as her interests were chemistry, literature, reading, singing and music. Religion was extremely important as well, giving her a lifelong heart of gold and kindred spirit.

Elaine's full-time working career spans from Washington, D.C. and Cedar Rapids, IA, to her retirement in 1995 from the ASCS Office of Mahnomen County, MN, ending a 32-year career.

She married Lyle Gunderson in 1962, and together they had three children: Eileen, Mary and Ray. They owned and operated a grain farm and raised beef cattle. The farm was a hub of activity which was known to all that the coffee pot was always on and Elaine's culinary skills showcased the finest of everything she touched.

With her love for cooking, baking, bread making, desserts and pastries she created an owner operator business after her retirement from the ASCS Office, which was a well-known success for a spectrum of events from small gatherings to large weddings. Elaine loved the planning, production, and people engagement this business adventure brought her, which lasted for many years.

Elaine was known for her love of God, religion, church, family, and grandchildren. She had many talents and was a giving person always wanting to teach and listen, a true angel on earth.

Elaine moved off the farm to the Pine to Prairie Assisted Living in Fosston, MN, before moving in 2018 to the Edgewood Healthcare Living in Alexandria, MN, where she was a current resident.

She is survived by her children: Eileen (Jason) Winter of Avon, MN, Mary (Daniel) Floding of Alexandria, MN, and Ray (Stacy) Gunderson of Gary, MN; her grandchildren: Katie (Jacob), Tyler, Jeremy, Paige, and Parker; great-grandchildren, Annika & Bjorn; siblings: Belva Domogalla, Conrad Wallin and Marlys Wallin; brother-in-law, Duane (Sue) Gunderson; and many nieces; nephews; and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Helmer and Charlotte Wallin; brother, Gordon Wallin and her husband, Lyle Gunderson in 2017.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, May 6, 2021, at 10:30 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Bejou, MN.  Visitation will take place at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Bejou on Wednesday, from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m., with a Prayer Service beginning at 6:00 p.m. and continue one hour prior to the funeral.  Burial will take place at Riverside Memorial Park in Mahnomen, MN.

Following all Covid-19 safety protocols, social distancing will be practiced, and all must wear a mask to participate.  The funeral service will be recorded and available for viewing shortly after the funeral.
