Elaine A. Boreen, 85, Twin Valley, Minnesota, died Sunday, January 13, 2008, in the Bridges Care Community, Ada, Minnesota

Elaine Andoris Gunderson was born January 29, 1922, the daughter of Melvin and Hildur (Burkley) near Twin Valley. As a young woman, she was employed by Alvin Peterson and Sander Hoseth as a housekeeper. On March 12, 1944, Elaine was united in marriage to Evander Boreen at the Zion Lutheran Church in Twin Valley. For the first two years of marriage, they lived with his mother, Helen Boreen, before purchasing the farm where they resided until their retirement. After retiring in the early 1980's, the couple moved into Twin Valley in 1989. Evander died April 11, 1993. Elaine moved into the Lincoln Terrace Apartments in Twin Valley in June of 2005. She most recently resided at Bridges Care Community in Ada.

Elaine was an active member of Wild Rice Lutheran Church where she was in the ladies aide and circle. She was also active in the Flom Community Club participating in various fundraising activities for the community. For many years, Elaine was a leader with the Flom-Fossum 4-H program in the poultry division. For most of her farm life, Elaine was well known for her quality produce and poultry. Her hobbies included crochetting, playing bingo, whist and going dancing. Elaine will long be remembered for her making of lefse and the traditional Norwegian foods.

Elaine is survived by a son, Allan of Twin Valley, MN; two daughters, Myrna (Frank) Kenny of Newburg, ME and Darlene (Greg) Crawford of Ft. Collins, CO; seven grandchildren; two brothers, Bud, Jr. Gunderson of Virginia , MN and Wayne Gunderson of Hibbing, MN; six sisters, Melvia Boreen of Fargo, ND, Adell Korsgaden of Fargo, ND, Ardis Smith of Bettendorf, IA, Shirley (Allen) Thronson of Ada, MN, Donna (Owen) Olson of Hibbing, MN and Beverly Williams of Denver, CO and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, a brother, Jewell and infant sister, Janice Jean.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, January 18th, 2008, at 2:00 PM in Wild Rice Lutheran Church, rural Twin Valley. Visitation will be Thursday, January 17th, from 5PM until 7PM with a Prayer Service at 7PM in the Anderson Funeral Home, Twin Valley. Visitation will also be one hour before services at the church on Friday. Officiating will be Pastor Chad Peterson with Jolee Habedank serving as organist and Mark and Rhoda Habedank serving as vocalists. Pallbearers will be Duane Johnson, David Lunde, Charlie Braaten, Bruce Boreen, Dean Boreen, Kristopher Kenny and Kelly Thronson. Honorary pallbearers will be her grandchildren, Melissa Williams, Kristopher Kenny, Lynnea Crawford, Adam Crawford, Evan Boreen, Alex Boreen and BrieAnna Crawford.

Interment will be in the Wild Rice Lutheran Cemetery, Twin Valley, MN.
