Eileen Mary Kaster, age 68 of Fertile, MN, died Friday, May 15, 2015, at her home under care of First Care Hospice. Eileen was born September 29, 1946, in Grand Forks, ND, to Anton and Margaret (Busta) Timmer. She lived in Grand Forks and Little Falls until junior high when Eileen and her family moved to Mahnomen, MN. They later moved to her grandparents' farm northeast of Beaulieu, MN. Eileen graduated from Mahnomen High School with the class of 1964. Following high school, she worked at the Mahnomen Bakery until her soon-to-be husband returned from serving in Vietnam. On February 5, 1966, Eileen was united in marriage to Raymond Kaster at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Beaulieu. The couple moved to California where Ray was stationed at El Toro Marine Base. In 1968, they returned to Minnesota, where Ray and Eileen farmed and milked cows south of Fosston, MN, for many years side by side until retirement. They were blessed with two children, Dana Rae and Daniel, and happily married for over 49 years. Eileen was a longtime member of Homemakers Club and she and Ray were members of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Fosston for many years, and most recently, members of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Beaulieu. Upon retiring, Eileen and Ray moved to the Fertile area. Eileen had a great love for animals, taking her dogs for walks and feeding the birds. Eileen was an excellent cook and loved to garden and can vegetables, giving most of her produce away. She also enjoyed keeping up on her grandchildren's activities. Eileen is survived by her husband, Ray, of Fertile; her children, Dana Rae (Brad) of Motley, MN; and Dan (Tamaira) of Newbury Park, CA; five grandchildren: Taylor, Ally, Ashley, Kaleb and Kora; mother-in-law, Martha Kaster of Beaulieu and many extended family on Ray's side. She was preceded in death by her parents, and one brother, Gene. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, May 23, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Beaulieu, MN. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral at the church. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
