Edwin Ashing, age 71, of Bagley, MN, died peacefully on Sunday, December 1, 2019, at Sanford Medical Center in Fargo, ND, surrounded by his mom and sisters.

Edwin Ashing, the son of Anna (Ashing) Coyer, was born on August 28, 1948, in White Earth, MN.  As a young boy, he grew up in the Pine Bend area, attending school in Pine Bend, Fosston, MN, and Red Wing, MN, through the 8 ^th grade.  As a young man, Edwin joined the United States Army, serving our country as a Paratrooper.  After returning home, Ed entered the workforce in the construction field.  He spent several years in Washington State, working construction.  He was blessed with four children: John, Lorraine, Ann and Linda.  Ed later moved to Minneapolis, MN, and worked at Boswell Construction and enjoyed the years he spent working at his brother, Mike's business.  Upon retiring from working construction, Ed has spent the past few years in the Bagley area.

Edwin loved watching sports…all sports, especially the Minnesota Twins, Minnesota Vikings, and college sports.  He enjoyed playing cards, Keno, going to Bingo and spending time with his family.  Ed also liked hanging with his buddies visiting and sharing a cold one.  He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Edwin is survived by his mother, Ann, of Bagley; one son, John Ashing Sr; two daughters, Ann Ashing, and Linda Blue; 15 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; four brothers: Robert Coyer, Gary "Smokie" Coyer, Jake (Denise) Coyer Jr, and Mike (Cammy) Coyer; four sisters: JoAnne (Ron) Miller, Debbie Ronning, Pam (Merlin) Olson, and Michelle Coyer; one aunt, Kathy Johnson and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his stepdad, Jake Coyer; daughter, Lorraine; brothers, Ronald and Jeff Coyer; and other extended family.

Funeral Services will be held Thursday, December 12, 2019 at 2 pm at the Anderson Family Funeral Home in Mahnomen, MN.  Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service.
