Obituary

Edward R. Paul, age 90, of Waubun, MN, died on Thursday, September 1, 2016, at the Twin Valley Living Center in Twin Valley, MN.

Edward Ronald Paul, the son of Anna (Blattenbauer) and Frank Paul Sr., was born on December 19, 1925 at home on the farm in Mahnomen County. He grew up there and attended Rosedale Country School. While growing up, Eddie worked side by side on the farm with his father, only leaving for short while to work in the Minneapolis, MN area. On October 22, 1952 Edward was united in marriage to Beverly Rebhahn and the couple made their home on the family farm. Eddies life was his family, his cattle, and his farm. They had acres of farmland, hogs, beef and dairy cattle. After selling just the dairy cattle, Eddie worked the winter months at various places in the Mahnomen area along with raising his own livestock. Over the years, he worked at the potato house, the Anderson saw mill, stave plant, and cut ice in Detroit Lakes, as well as so many other jobs. He also drove beet truck for many seasons. As he aged, Ed rented out some of the farm land to scale back but never really retired. He continued to have alfalfa and other crops for his cattle up until just a few years ago.   Eddie also proudly served as Clerk for Rosedale Township for 43 years. He enjoyed deer hunting and was an avid fisherman. Each year, he looked forward to the ice fishing trips up at Kabetogama Lake. Eddie cherished his neighborhood farming friends and was always there to help out when they were in need of an extra hand. He especially liked when they all got together to chop corn, where many stories and laughs were shared and memories made. Eddie had very recently entered the Twin Valley Nursing Home due to failing health, but loved visits from family and friends, especially from, Zoey, his dear canine companion.

Eddie is survived by his wife, Beverly of Mahnomen; his daughter, Sharon (Alan) Hoffert of Shakopee, MN; two sons, Wayne (Betty) of Mahnomen and Daniel (Cathy) of Waubun; one sister, Betty (Delmar) Schoenborn of Mahnomen; one brother, Bob (Delores) of Mahnomen; eight grandchildren: Angela, Casey, Ashley, Amy, Jessica, Katelyn, Noah and Cody; four great grandchildren; and two sisters-in-law, Gloria (Pete) Dezingle and Janice (Lyle) Usgaard.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter, Lynne Jallo; two grandchildren, Amanda and Wade Paul; a brother and sister-in-law, Frank and Darlene; and a brother-in-law, Joney Flatland.
