White Earth

Obituary

Edward Levy, age 67, of White Earth, MN, died on Friday, May 16, 2022, at Sanford Health Broadway in Fargo, ND.

Edward Franklin Levy was born March 10, 1955, in Mahnomen, MN, the oldest son of Edwin and Merceline (Warren) Levy Jr.  With two military parents, Ed's youth was spent in many different places as the family was stationed in various cities.  The family settled in the Strawberry Lake area and Edward attended school in Waubun, MN.  As a young man, he joined the United States Army, honorably serving until he donated a kidney to his mother.  Edward met Diane Marie Dakota and together they were blessed with five sons of their own, beginning in 1975.  Ed worked various jobs before beginning his career with the White Earth Nation.  He began working in 1991 for the Community Action Program as a Security Officer at Congregate Housing then transferred to the RTC as a maintenance technician, where he was currently employed.  In March of 2005, Ed and Diane made it official and were united in marriage.

Edward was a true outdoorsman.  He loved hunting, fishing, leeching, ricing and everything nature has to offer.  He will be remembered as a hardworking, fun-loving man with a great sense of humor.  He enjoyed going to pow wows, teasing anyone he could and had a special place in his heart for animals.  Above all, Ed loved his family and treasured the time spent with all of them, especially his grandchildren.  Although gone from this life to soon, he will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

Edward leaves behind his wife, Diane, of White Earth; four sons: David Dakota, Daniel (Kailene Villebrun-Bevins), Ed Dakota, and Raymond (Crystal Kiehl) Dakota all of White Earth; four grandchildren: Jordan, Michael, Desirae, and Paige; one brother, Michael (Denise Bellecourt) Levy of Waubun; two sisters, Sandra Levy of White Earth and Judith Frigen also of Waubun and several nieces, nephews and cousins.  He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Michael Dakota.

The family would like to extend a very special thank you to Gloria Beaulieu who made it possible for them to be able to spend these past 13 years with Ed by giving him the gift of life. Also,  a special thank you to Gloria's family for being very supportive.

An All-Night Wake will begin at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, May 20, 2022, at the White Earth Community Center, in White Earth with a 7:00 p.m. Wake Service and continue until the time of the Funeral Service at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 21, 2022, at the Community Center. Burial will be in the St. Columba Episcopal Cemetery, White Earth, MN.
