Edward Kent, age 60 of Waubun, MN, died Wednesday, April 9, 2008 at his home under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley after a courageous battle with cancer. Ed was born on February 13, 1948 in Detroit Lakes, MN, the son of Richard and Marie (Gaynor) Kent. Growing up in the Ogema area, he attended school in Waubun and graduated with the class of 1967. Upon graduation he moved to Detroit Lakes where he worked at Grover?s Service Station for many years. On April 15, 1972 Edward was united in marriage to Barb Bevins at Holy Rosary Church in Detroit Lakes. In the late 1970?s Ed and Barb moved to a farm near Ogema where they raised dairy cattle for several years. In the early 1980?s they purchased a farm Southeast of Waubun where they have since resided. For the past 12 years, Ed was employed by the Shooting Star Casino in Mahnomen as a Banquet Captain. A man full of life and laughter, Ed was known for his keen sense of humor. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt, fish, and enjoyed the hours spent bow hunting deer. Ed looked forward to spending time with his friends and family and was always up for a game of cards. He was a member of Pheasant?s Forever and held memberships with several area hunting clubs. He is lovingly survived by his wife Barb, Waubun; two daughters, Nicole Kent and Jody Kent, both of Waubun; two sons, Edward Jr. (Pam) Kent, Waubun; Leslie (Kelly) Kent, Mahnomen; his mother, Marie Kent, Waubun; four brothers: Richard (Sue) Kent and Vincent (Melissa) Kent, both of Waubun; Dean (Kathy) Kent, Annandale, MN; Duane Kent, Bagley; four sisters: Mary (Don) Neitzke, Wahpeton, ND; Joyce (Larry) Morrison, Detroit Lakes; Yvonne (Joe) Walsh, Fridley, MN; Wanda (Dave) Riedberger; Rockford, MN; nine grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death was his father; three brothers; a sister and niece, Theresa.
