Edward "Sandy" Turner Jr., age 81, of Naytahwaush, MN, died Friday, December 31, 2021 at his home surrounded by family.
Edward John Turner Jr., the son of Edward Sr. and Shirley (Brown) Turner, was born on December 8, 1940, in White Earth, MN. He spent many years living in the Minneapolis area before returning home to northern Minnesota. In 1960, Sandy was united in marriage to his high school sweetheart, Beverly Turpin, and the couple was blessed with four children. They made their home in Naytahwaush where they raised their family. Sandy drove truck for Gordon Construction for many years. Although he attempted to retire several times, his heart always led him back and he continued to drive as long as his health allowed. He loved working along side of his family and friends. Sandy was a true outdoorsman. He enjoyed being in the woods, hunting, fishing, leeching, and ricing. He also liked to snowmobile and was a member of the Naytahwaush Nightriders club. Sandy cherished his grandchildren and great grandchildren, which was evident as his smile would light up the room when they were near. His legacy will live on through all those he loved.
Edward is survived by his wife, Beverly of Naytahwaush; sons, Edward Turner of Naytahwaush and Craig (Kim) Turner of Mahnomen; daughter, Shirlee Turner of Naytahwaush; one brother, Chuck Nordmarken; and two sisters, Linda Brown and Toni Cullen; five grandchildren; and 10 great grandchildren.
