Obituary

Edith Rocker, 89, Ada, MN, died Wednesday, July 1, 2015, at Benedictine Care Community, Ada.

Edith Lorraine Nelson was born March 22, 1926, at Fertile, MN, the daughter of Nels and Ida (Morvig) Nelson. She attended school in Fertile and graduated from Fertile High School. She attended Normal Teachers School in East Grand Forks, MN, and received her teaching certificate. She valued education all her life and taught school for a short time in the Fertile and Winger (MN) school districts.

On October 18, 1947, she was united in marriage to Melvin Rocker at Concordia Lutheran Church, Fertile. They moved to a farm near Lockhart, MN, and resided there for many years. Edith was very involved on the farm with care for the animals, and also assisted operating the planting and harvesting equipment. She was a longtime 4H supporter and was active in the Green Meadow and Lockhart clubs. She later was awarded with the Minnesota State 4H Alumni Award.

Edith had worked as a store clerk in Ada for years at the Coast to Coast, Ada Rexall Drug, Ada Pharmacy, and for her son Terry at The Orpheum Theatre. She moved into Ada from the farm and lived at Thompson Apartment for a number of years and later became a resident of the Benedictine Care Community.

Edith is survived by her son, Terry Rocker, of Ada, her daughter, Ann (Mike) Pahlen, Crookston, MN, 2 grandchildren, James Pahlen, Amy Pahlen, great grandson, Dante Norris, her brother Robert (Shirley) nelson, Fertile, her brother-in-law, Don Sorben, Fergus Falls, MN, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded by her parents, husband, Melvin, and siblings, Ernest Nelson, Irene Roragen, Norma Boyce, Rose Sorben, and infant brothers, Alvin and Noble, and her granddaughter, Lori Pahlen Norris.

Funeral: 11:00 Tuesday, July 7, 2015 at Grace Lutheran Church, Ada.

Visitation: 5:00PM to 7:00PM Monday with a 6:30PM prayer service at Fredrikson-Ganje Funeral Home, Ada.

Burial: Ada Municipal Cemetery, Ada.
