Obituary

Earl Ovaldson, age 63, of Mahnomen MN, died on Monday, June 15, 2015, under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley.

Earl Martin Ovaldson, the son of Elster and Ruby (Chilton) Ovaldson, was born May 12, 1952, in Mahnomen, MN. He grew up and attended school in Twin Valley, MN. Following his schooling, Earl honorably served in the United States Army during Vietnam. While he was stationed in Germany he met his wife to be, Renate Haas. Following a service related injury, Earl, Renate and her two daughters, moved to the states. The couple was then married and blessed with one son, Anthony. While living in Florida, Earl worked various jobs in construction. They remained in Florida until Renate's death in 1996, after which Earl and their daughter, Darlene, moved to Virginia. Earl re-enlisted with the National Guard to continue his service for his country. He and his son were stationed together in Virginia. Shortly thereafter, Earl moved to Missouri for a time before moving to Mahnomen,. He was married to Joan Goodman until her death in 2005. Earl later shared his life with Pinky Littlewolf until she passed away in 2012. Some of the things Earl enjoyed were fishing, spending time in the casino, watching the history channel. Earl loved to play Cribbage and Canasta. More recently, he enjoyed going to pow-wows and hanging out with friends, especially Valerie Thompson.

Earl is survived by his mother, Ruby Ovaldson, Twin Valley; his children: Anthony Harmon, Angelika Markham, and Darlene Pickler; his sisters: Donna (Thomas), Gaye, Bonnie and Mary; brothers, Floyd and Eric; six beautiful grandchildren and a special friend, Valerie Thompson.

In addition to two wives, Earl was preceded in death by his father; two sisters, Sandra and Lori; two brothers, Morris and Errol and long-term girlfriend, Waurine "Pinky" Littlewolf.

Funeral services were held at 4:00 pm on Thursday, June 18, 2015 at the Anderson Family Funeral Home in Mahnomen. Visitation was one hour before the service.
